The Grand Finale- We have reached a closing in the lunation cycle for 2022 with the final Full Moon in the sign of Gemini. This lunation reaches its peak at 16 degrees at 8:08pm PST. Every Full Moon is a chance to take stock of what has come to fulfillment, what is blossoming, and what we can mark as complete. As we close the year, this is a time to look back over 2022 and all of its surprises, pain, uncertainty, and emerging insights. Take some time under the full moon to reflect on this year.
The mutable air sign Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, which is highlighted this Full Moon. With aspects to Mars Retrograde in the sign of Gemini as well, the universe is drawing our attention to this intelligent, inquisitive, and inspiring sign. Gemini is typically associated with duality, choices, opposing forces and ideas- the yin and the yang of all creation. When in balance this creates a harmony within all things. Out of balance, this energy is disruptive and chaotic - like nature it destroys so it can once again come into wholeness and harmony.
Tend to the Twins
A Gemini Full Moon in Sagittarius season highlights the axis over higher learning, philosophy, spirituality, and visionary thinking. Contemplating on the nature of our human primal existence with respect to our soul-self or higher-self is welcome at this time. One twin is mortal, the other immortal, representing both the soul and the body. The soul is forever. Our body has a timeline. Both elements make up who we are. We must honor our human/physical side and our soul side.”
Release & Choose Wisely
In the energy of this full moon our mental bodies are contemplating what could be of this incredible final encounter- an opportunity to allow the winds of change to breeze through our lives and for a cleansing to commence as we release all that is no longer useful to our journey.
We are being called to use this strong mental energy to embody a perspective that respects the duality that governs our lives- the personal vs. career, the body vs. the spirit, the mind vs. the heart, and so on.
This might take some deliberation on our part. Astrologer Sarah Vrba says, “this moon wants us to pay attention and give a little space to the parts of ourselves that are feeling ignored, and even petty at times. This full moon calls upon the sensitive one within us.” Do the best you can to be with your emotions and not react quickly due to your feelings. Give yourself plenty of space to feel how you feel. No judgement, no rush to fix, simply be where you are.
Phone a Friend
An honest talk with a friend is an ideal way to activate this Gemini Full Moon. A lot can be worked out in this back and forth when we see ourselves through the eyes of another. We can be the mirror for each other to expose one another’s truths and denials- to ultimately come to a space of peace and compromise within. Gemini loves a good story so beckon the one that will call upon your vulnerability as well as your strength as you bask in this final release of 2022.
Clarity in Chaos
As we oscillate between these different areas with their opposing needs and desires, we begin to use discernment and find the truth of the matter that is calling to us to bring these forces into balance.
The truth will begin to speak loudly, if we allow the silence in.
Full Moon Ritual :: Joy Medicine
The Full Moon in Gemini is taking us into the day to day details and asking us to reflect on the small choices we are making that add up to our lived experience. For this moon cycle, and as we come towards the end of the year, let us focus on sprinkling joy, play, and self-nurturing each day. The path of transformation is long, winding, and can last a lifetime. Let's not forget that this present moment, right now, possesses everything we need to live a life we love.
Joy does not have to be in the form of anything big, expensive, or time consuming. In fact, many times it's the simplest and most accessible experiences that bring us the most joy.
Give yourself the gift of a joy-drenched present moment through this daily ritual.
1. Find a comfortable place to sit with a journal and a pen. Set a timer for 10 minutes.
2. Close your eyes and take three deep breaths. Say out loud three times "I invite in joy and play into my life." Take three more deep breaths, letting those words sink in.
3. Until the timer goes off, make a list of everything that brings you joy. These can be activities, experiences, foods, sports, hobbies, people, flowers, or anything else. Allow yourself to free write this joy-list, knowing you can always add to it anytime you want.
4. Once you have your list, place it somewhere you can see it each morning. For the next two weeks, choose one thing on your list each day to gift yourself with. For a bit more structure, schedule your joy-moment in your calendar at a specific time that you will devote to it.
Allow for spontaneity to arise, and if you feel inspired to find joy in new ways, follow that.
Know that your joy is medicine. For you, for the world, and the planet.
